Shahin Najafi storms the stage with a crushing performance at Tirgan Festival 2019. Shahin performs songs from his new album The Third Gender with a full band of world-class artists for the first time at Tirgan Festival.

Shahin Najafi is an Iranian musician, songwriter and singer known for his taboo-breaking and provocative songs about religion, poverty, child labor, sexism and other topics that extremists would like to avoid. Shahin stands apart as a musician who brings both catchy riffs and meaningful revelations to every performance. In his work nothing appears to be sacred; his lyrics constantly question political authoritarianism, social injustice, ideological dogmas, and cultural taboos. His music assimilates elements of hip-hop, rock, folk and most recently jazz fusion. His new album, The Third Gender is a blend of folk melodies and contemporary influences, and heralds a revolutionary new direction for Najafi’s music.

For the first part of his performance at Tirgan Festival, Najafi combines jazz with aspects of traditional Gilaki music from northern Iran. Among the songs on the album, one is a reworking of a poem by the celebrated Iranian poet “Esmail Khoi”, and one is an adaptation of a folk song. In the second part, his performance include his popular hits along with live improvisations by his band. On the album, Najafi is accompanied by critical mind and creative skills of Pouya Mahmoudi, Habib Meftah Boushehri and Adrian Wachowiak to form a contemporary alliance between folk, jazz, rock in a chamber environment. For the last part, Shahin storms the stage with a crushing performance of rock music.
Shahin has toured around the world, in Europe, the US and Canada, and has performed alongside The Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne and Blackfield in Tel Aviv amongst others.

«شاهین نجفی و گروه» او با اجرای بی‌نظیری از ساخته‌های نو و بهترین‌های یک دهه خود در جشنواره تیرگان ۲۰۱۹ به روی صحنه می‌روند. شاهین نجفی با همراهی نوازندگان برجسته ایرانی در کنسرت جشنواره تیرگان قطعاتی از آلبوم «جنس سوم» که تلفیقی از موسیقی فولک ایران و جاز در فرم‌های معاصر است را به اجرا می‌گذارد.
شاهین نجفی»، خواننده و آهنگساز ایرانی مقیم آلمان است که ساخته‌هایش با تابو شکنی، عبور از مرزهای سنت و اعتراض به فقر و نابرابری تاثیر بسیاری بر موسیقی و فرهنگ اعتراضی معاصر داشته.

ساخته‎های شاهین نجفی با خلاقیت موسیقایی، قریحه معترض شاعرانه و محتوای چالش برانگیز اجتماعی توانسته او را از هنرمندان همتراز خود متمایز کند. ترس و تقدس در موسیقی شاهین نجفی جایی ندارد و ترانه‎های او بنیادگرایی، نابرابری اجتماعی، خشک‎اندیشی ایدئولوژیک و تابوهای فرهنگی را به چالش فرا می‎خواند. موسیقی شاهین نجفی با نشانه‌هایی از هیپ‎هاپ، رپ، فولک و به تازگی، جاز تلفیقی همراه است. آلبوم تازه شاهین نجفی، «جنس سوم» مجموعه‎ای‎ست از ملودی‎های فولک با درکی معاصر از موسیقی در فرم و محتوا که با ترکیب موسیقی جاز، انقلاب تازه‎ای در موسیقی شاهین نجفی به حساب می‌آید.


در بخش اول اجرای شاهین نجفی در جشنواره تیرگان، ترکیبی از موسیقی جاز و فولک ایرانی (گیلکی) توسط او و گروهش اجرا می‎شود که سیاق تازه‎ای از اجرای شاهین نجفی را برای دوستداران موسیقی به همراه دارد. یکی از ترانه‎ها بازخوانی اثری از «اسماعیل خویی» شاعر خوشنام ایرانی‌ست که در کنار ترانه فولک-جاز گیلکی از درخشان‎ترین قطعات آلبوم «جنس سوم» هستند. بخش دوم کنسرت شاهین نجفی با اجرای پرشور بهترین آثار او و بداهه نوازی هنرمندان گروه ادامه خواهد داشت. شاهین در آلبوم «جنس سوم» از توانایی هنری و ذهن خلاق «پویا محمودی»، «حبیب مفتاح بوشهری» و «آدرین واچوویاک» برای خلق اتحادی از موسیقی فولک، جاز و راک بهره می‎برد.

شاهین نجفی تا به حال با گروه‌های بسیاری در اروپا، کانادا و آمریکا همکاری داشته و کنسرت‌های متعددی از جمله با «ارکستر سمفونی کلن آلمان» و «بلک فیلد» در تل آویو را به روی صحنه برده است.
